1. Background : From the Author
Its been almost a decade since I was gifted my first plant “a money plant”. To my surprise it is still with me, yes the “same plant in red pot” and so is the person who gifted this plant to me my then girlfriend now wife and mother to our little baby boy.
Not saying I was good with plant since then I did have my share of learning, and so did this money plant. It has seen days of care , extra care, ignorance, harsh sun, overwatering and drought and more.. to be honest it is the most forgiving (certainly way more than person who gifted it) thing I have come across in this life.
What started with a gifted plant became a life changing incident for me. Today, 10+ years past, I am an avid gardeners and knowledge seeker in gardening world. I have spent last few years in experimenting, learning, unlearning world of growing plant. In this journey I interacted with 10+ professor and researchers from horticulture, plant genetics and pathology, 20+ plant feed producers and students and scholars. I proudly parent more than 200+ plant at home and have been parts of 25000+ plant lovers’ journey across country.
2. What is this course?
With this course we want to provide correct and honest environment to a person looking learn “how to grow a plant”. This is our attempt to increase gardening literacy in India, we feel growing plant has been part of our evolution in last few decades average time spent with soil and plant is drastically reduced. Even from country’s overall health perspective Current situation of the demands greenery in every house and terrace.
3. Why Vrishti?
From my first plant I started I have been a observer and learner of plant world. Without formal degree it was difficult to get it right and understand how plants react to certain environmental condition and how to tend a plant. Even the most of literature is limited to agriculture and farm lands or large commercial horticulture. In my journey I found this entire experience cumbersome, full of confusion, contradictory advices, tweaked explanation and some baseless fact twisting marketing arguments. When I look back my top two gardening mistakes happen outside my garden –
- Taking anyone for an expert and not doing my research
- Social media group following unsolicited advices as pro TIP
4. For whom am I writing?
Over the years I learnt and experienced multiple aspect of gardening which can be explained by science and experts. We are building this platform for plant grower or to be plant grower in different stages of their plant journey. We will cover from the vary basic of plant growing to advance concept gardening without making it too serious and complicated like a botany book. We understand our reader may not have relevant background but looking for answers to unlock his green potential.
This series is an honest effort to share the correct, useful and science backed knowledge on growing plant, for any hobby gardener.

From the start of this project there were many opinions and argument on how to build this platform but one thing we were sure upon is how do we define win for this project.
For us Win is small yet impactful, We win when we add ONE MORE-
- house with green balcony/terrace to host family/friends and cherish laughter
- plant lover in the world
- house for birds to chirp and butterflies dance
- plant saved with right knowledge and actions
We want to democratize art of gardening with no hidden agenda, making it available to all for free.
